Copus Crew Gigs

THURSDAY, MAY 30th – Monica Williams (flutist) is the conductor of the Flock of Flutes ensemble at Civic Arts in Walnut Creek. On Thursday evening the FOF will once again be performing its classical and modern repertoire including two pieces composed by Wendy Loomis: “Poem for Innocence” with Wendy on piano; and “Lake Tear of the Clouds” featuring a contrabass solo and piano and flute by Wendy and Monica (aka Phoenix Rising). In addition, the Jazz Band will play Big Band favorites by Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. 7:30pm Walnut Creek Civic Arts, 111 N. Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek  Tickets $10. FRIDAY, JUNE 7th – Artist Showcase. Every FIRST FRIDAY of the month COPUS Multimedia presents the best indie talent in the Bay Area at the beautiful WestSide ArtHouse in San Francisco. This event includes singer/songwriter Zachary Brown and Everything in Pen; poet Timothy Trygg; and MCs Ne and 2whanne. 540 Balboa Street @ 7th Avenue. Doors open at 8:00pm. $10 sliding scale donation. Drinks provided by Verbena Beverage Company.


SATURDAY, JUNE 8th – COPUS will once again be performing at the San Mateo County Fair as part of the “Carrying the Light” literary and visual arts exhibits. COPUS will be playing between 12:30-1:30pm with  San Mateo poet laureate announcements in the middle of the set. Show free with admittance to the Fair. More info …


SATURDAY, JUNE 15th – Phoenix Rising will be presenting a workshop at the San Mateo County Fair called “How to Play the Native American Flute in 10 Minutes!”. Workshop starts at 6:00pm (an additional workshop may also be added at 7:00pm). During the ½ hour session participants will learn the basics of playing the Native American flute, listen to a short performance by Phoenix Rising on flutes, percussion, and keyboard, and then collectively play a piece together. Flutes will be available for purchase as well. Workshop is free with admittance to the Fair. More info …


TUESDAY, JUNE 25th – AWE (AngelicWendyExperience) is a new duo comprised of singer/songwriter Angelica Ullrich and composer/pianist Wendy Loomis. They will be performing a short set from 9:00-9:40pm as part of singer/songwriter night at 50 Mason Street Club in downtown San Francisco. 50 Mason Street. $6 cover. "Haves & Have Nots" single, recently recorded at MarinWest Studios, will have its official release at the July 5th Artist Showcase.
