We will open this concert with a mass flute choir - over 50 flutes all playing at one time. Participants from Civic Arts Flute Competition (taking place March 11) will join Flock of Flutes for an unforgettable union. The students, who are in grades 5-12, come together to celebrate their success and love of music. The winners of the first annual competition will be announced at the end of the concert.

World Premiere of Nine Foot Egg by Flute Choir - composed by Wendy Loomis with lyrics by Royal Kent and arranged for Flute Choir by Monica Williams.

Nine Foot Egg is a magical story intertwined with music that will enchant the young and the young at heart. It’s a poem that explores our intricate relationship with the world and the universe it resides in. Written for music group COPUS (Creation of Peace Under the Stars) in 1999, this work is recreated for full flute choir including piccolo, bass flute, alto flute, and a symphony of C-flutes, with flavors of percussion mixed in.
